About Owen

Owen Schmit-Ivy, a Los Angeles native, brings a distinctive artistic and design-driven perspective to Douglas Elliman and her clients. Born in Hollywood, she comes from a music industry family and has lived throughout Los Angeles- from Malibu Canyon to Northeast LA and many places in between. Her deep familiarity with the city gives her an intuitive understanding of the character and nuances of its diverse neighborhoods.

After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Art from Bard College in New York, Owen returned to Los Angeles to pursue her Master’s degree at ArtCenter College of Design. She went on to spend more than a decade working in the fine art world, collaborating with high-profile visual artists, architects, and leading figures in the gallery and contemporary art community.

Owen’s transition into real estate was a natural extension of her creative and entrepreneurial background. She purchased her first home at just 24 and, as a personal passion project, went on to strategically invest in, renovate, and sell multiple properties. Through these experiences, she developed firsthand knowledge of the Los Angeles real estate market, while her background in art and design cultivated a discerning eye for architecture, interiors, craftsmanship, and potential. She has a particular ability to recognize what makes a property exceptional—whether it requires thoughtful transformation or is already an unequivocal fit.

Having navigated the buying, improving, and selling process herself, Owen understands that real estate is both a significant financial decision and a deeply personal one. She approaches each client relationship with curiosity, integrity, and an appreciation for the details that make a property feel like home. Her goal is to combine market knowledge with her creative eye to provide thoughtful, strategic guidance—helping each client make confident decisions and find a home that feels distinctly their own.
